Measurements

I measure all the garments laying flat. So how do you find your measurements?
Step 1:
Take a top that fits you well, lay it flat and measure it armpit to armpit, This is your bust size. You can take this measurement and match it with our online measurements.
Step 2:
The waist is usually about 6-8 inches below the armpit at the smallest point. Measure the smallest point and double it. This is your waist size.
Step 3:
Hip measurement is about 5-8 inches below the waist at the largest point and then doubled. This is your hip measurement.
This is the exact same way I measure my clothes for online. For this reason you should be weary of buying from stores that do not list measurements—you are taking an awful gamble.
Take your largest measurement and match it with the size listed for the garment. That’s the size you should get. If it is too big in one area, you can always have it taken in. It’s usually much harder to have a garment let out, simply because you can’t add fabric where there isn’t any.
You should also take into account that girdles were a staple in the fifties, this flattens all those bumpy bits. There is so many great products out there that can shape your body and smooth those pesty areas. Not too small though! those bits have to go some where!!!
call or email me, love to help. em x
I receive a lot of emails about measurements so I have tried to explain below why measuring yourself is so important when buying online.
Unfortunately, all designers use different measurements, some use vanity sizing some don’t and there are so many factors when it comes to a good fit.
Fabric. Does it stretch? The bonus these days is the reproductions are made from materials, cotton spandex and Lycra. They are made to help fit to your form.
style. If you know you have a voluptuous bottom go for a fuller skirt. The hip measurement on this kind of dress is usually open and can fit a curvy body. If you are blessed with big boobs, go for more stretchy material.
Size. Sometimes all you need to do is go up or down in size to get a better fit. Don’t be afraid of this. Remember there is NO standardization in sizes. Wouldn’t you rather have an item that you love fit better than being stuck in the mindset of “well this isn’t the size I wear”?
Brand. Keep in mind within brands sizing does vary, however sometimes you can get a general idea of how it runs. Some brands in general run big and some run small. I will state this in the description.
The fifties style is all about embracing curves and feeling fabulous about YOU! Don’t take any notice of what the tag says. Who cares! Trust me, you have no choice but to feel fabulous. People stop me in street to tell me how nice I look, and I am a curvy girl!
If you need more specific measurements on an item, please don’t hesitate to contact me. If you need shoulder measurements, skirt length, sleeve length, just email or call. I always strive to make buying clothes online as easy as possible , I'd love to hear from you.

5.Mark the sides of your foot at the widest part

6.Measure your other foot using the same method

7. To find your size, measure the heel-to-toe mark in inches

8. . If your measurements are between two sizes, or you find one foot's measurement larger than the other, always move up to the larger size
